Message from the Author
To start, a disclaimer. The content that is presented in Life Story is purely fictional. Any attempt to blur the lines between reality and fiction is simply an attempt to enrich the narrative that I desire to tell. But, as with all stories, does it really matter what is real or not real, when you can't tell the difference? What does matter is what you take away from it as a reader.
Life Story has been a passion project of mine for years at this point. Something that I never truly believed would be fully realized. Here I am, on December 13th, 2019, with a full length album of original music sitting at seventy-six total minutes of music, a Downbeat award in composition for one of the tracks, a fifty page undergraduate thesis on the relationship between music and narrative, a website to put it on, countless other little blurbs and bobs I created for the project, and now the full story comprised of the Journal, the Records, and the Logs. I have done it, and now I cannot be more excited for it to exist, and also for me to continue into the future on other projects.
The story is now out there, you can choose to enter from any point. A message for the curious though; the truth is never found exclusively in spaces, but it is found from the connections we make between spaces. You will not find the answers to the meaning of this project in the music alone, or the narrative alone. You must connect the threads for yourself. And once you do, the meaning is yours to keep, and yours to do with as you please.
I want to use this space to thank everybody who has been a part of it. Everybody who listened to me, my band, my family, my teachers, everybody who pushed me along, and everybody who listened to the album and read the story, thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
